It was a very enjoyable and informative CLIS AGM on Saturday 18th April 2015 in Leicester. It was held in the YMCA Theatre. Diana Edmonds who Head of Libraries at GLL (a social enterprise company) spoke on Library Privatisation and Outsourcing. She said that if it was done well with the full support of the staff library footfall and issues increased dramatically.
Emmanuel Oladipo formally International Secretary of Scripture Union spoke on the Famine in the African Church: Books, Libraries and Information Services. He described African Christian publishing and the Africa Collective and Village Libraries which he helped to start.
More details of the presentations will follow shortly.
CLIS is supporting National Libraries Day , an initiative of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals which aims to celebrate and promote libraries.
We are encouraging our members to include a prayer of thanksgiving for books and libraries in a Sunday service or mid-week meeting at their churches. Here is a copy of our press release.
